History and Architecture:
A Foundation stone reads, " To the Glory of God this stone was laid by R. W. Thomson Esq on the 15th October 1927. In this place I will give peace. B.H & M. H. King Architects, Rev P. L Forster Minister".
A further Foundation stone reads, " To the greater Glory of God and in honour of St Silas this stone was laid by the Most Rev J.J. Booth C.M.G. M.C. D.D. on 19th August 1962".
There is a third Foundation partially hidden which reads in part, " Foundation stone laid by Rev J.J. Booth C.M.G. M.C. D.D. Archbishop of Melbourne on ? 4th February 1956".
