History and Architecture:
In 1857, the foundations of the present church were laid by William Thomas Senior. The work was completed in 1860 and officially opened on Thursday 31st May of that year, the Reverend Joseph Oram conducting the service. The internal measurements were 78 feet by 52 feet, with a seating capacity of 700, and the cost was £7,040.
