History and Architecture:

The Barraport Baptist Church was built in 1885 and over time the number of Baptist families living in Boort and travelling from Boort to the Barraport church steadily increased. It was agreed at Barraport on August 9, 1962 that it was time to establish a Baptist church in Boort; from this point the church was known as the Barraport Boort Baptist Church and a Pastor was shared.

The first Baptist service in Boort was held on November 4, 1962 in the James-Boyle Hall (then known as the 'Sparrow Cathedral' — due to the many birds in the rafters). In November 1964 two blocks of land were purchased in Armstrong Street in Boort, and construction of the current church building commenced in October 1966.
