History and Architecture:
The first service was held at the "Boort" station woolshed on October 6th. 1850, and- in St. Andrew's there is a memorial prayer desk to "Frederic Race Godfrey, Pioneer-"Boort" station 1847-1863". The Rev. Drought, a descendent of the Godfreys, preached the first sermon in the present church.
The original St. Andrew's was owned by the Presbyterians, Anglican services were held on alternate Sundays. In 1887 committee bought the building from the Presbyterians and this is present church hall. In 1921 the Rev. C. Kirkpatrick and parishioners of that made a move towards the building of a new church but it was until November 1958 that the foundation stone was laid by the P Rev. Allen E. Winter, Lord Bishop of St. Arnaud. In September the present church was dedicated by Bishop Winter. The financials of the new church was made possible by a pledge giving camp and the generosity of the parishioners in donating all the furnish. The Rector of this period, the Rev. C. T. Holloway was a most energetic worker and good organizer and proved the right man for the building of a new church.
A Foundation stone read's, " A.M.D.C. In memory of the fallen in two world wars the foundation stone of this church of St Andrew built for the worship of God and the teaching of the Catholic faith was laid by Allen second Bishop of St Arnaud on 30th November 1958. C.T. Hollaway Rector, Earle & Bunbury Architects, D.K. Koch Builder."
