History and Architecture:

The original stone church, now the church hall, dates from 1887. The modern brick church, a hundred metres to the south on Glynburn Road, was built in 1963, while standing between these two is the oldest building of them all, the current Church Office, erected as the Burnside Council Chambers in 1869.  A foundation stone was laid on 9 September 1962 by the Bishop of Adelaide C.W. Muceke.

The architect of the current church, Stewart Game, was a parishioner of St David’s.

A Heritage plaque at the front of the church reads, " This site was formerly part of the Burnside Council Pound. In 1960, it was sold to the Church and became part of the St David's Parish Complex. St David's Church was consecrated in November 1963 and is an outstanding example of modernist architecture. Designed by architect Stewart Game, its most noteworthy feature is the pointed saddle-shaped roof that sweeps to the 90-foot high cross at the eastern end. The interior references the Gothic tradition in its height and soaring timber ceiling".
