History and Architecture:
Built in 1853 of blue stone, the foundation stone was laid on 1 July 1853. The architect was James Blackburn. An L Terry supervised the erection of stairs and the completion of the gallery in 1865 while the spire and tower were added in 1876 by the architect C Webb.
