Gin Gin, QLD - Redemer Lutheran

History and Architecture:

On 24th July, 1915 Pastor M.G. Reuther, a legendary figure in the Parish conducted a Lutheran service in the home of Mr. C. Stollznow. Services were continued at Currajong until 1937 when Wallaville became the Lutheran Centre.

In April 1928 services were conducted in Gin Gin in the Methodist Church. Church growth gained impetus when on 30th July, 1939 Pastor M. Stoltz was appointed to serve the Bundaberg Home Mission field. In 1942 Pastor Keller was appointed and the area was separated from Bundaberg. The first Church was not built until 1948 when Pastor Roenfeldt launched an appeal for a church at Wallaville. This church was opened and dedicated, but was blown down in a storm in 1952. It was rebuilt and re-dedicated on 1st February. 1953.

In 1955 the Home Mission Field reached its peak of fourteen preaching places - the resident Pastor being H.W. Beach. The 50th Anniversary of the Gin Gin Field saw the dedication of the Redeemer Church and in 1977 a Sunday School and Assembly Hall complex was built.
