"Foundation Stone of New Church, LAID BY ARCHBISHOP DUHIG. November 1918. "The ceremony of laying the foundation stone of a new Catholic Church at Laidley, to replace the one destroyed by fire a few months ago, was performed by His Grace Archbishop Duhig, on Sunday morning last, in the presence of a large congregation. The Archbishop arrived by the morning train and celebrated the 10.30a.m. Mass in St. Joseph's schoolroom, was being used by the parishioners of Laidley as a place of worship until the completion of the new church.
