History and Architecture:

Formerly a Presbyterian Church the Foundation stone was laid on 22 December 1882 by the Honarable J Balflour M.L.C.assisted by Rev, Peter Mercer Moderator of the General Assembly. The Church was opened and dedicated one year later on 9 December 1883.* Mr T.J. Crouch of Melbourne was the architect and the style is Later Gothic. Messrs Sebire and Morton of Lilydale were the contractors for the foundations which were built of local porphyry stone.

At the Service Rev Alexander Mackie stated "The new building is intended not only for the advantage of the resident Presbyterians but for those who might be visiting the district from time to time".

In 2014 the church was saved from developers and housing created for people with a disability under a revolutionary plan from a Mt Evelyn not-for-profit organization. Melba Support Services has bought the Lilydale Uniting Church in Anderson St Lilydale.
