History and Architecture:
The current St Patrick’s Church is the fourth to be constructed on the site and was constructed in 1961-63. It was designed by prominent Mackay architect, Harold Vivian Marsh Brown in the Spanish mission style.
A Foundation stone reads, Patrick's Memorial Church. This Stone, blessed and laid by Most Reverend Francis Rush,D.D., Bishop of Rockhampton, on 171h September in the Fifteenth Centenary Year of the death of St Patrick,1961, expresses the Devotion and Faith of a grateful people, who,in the Name of Jesus,erected this Church to the Glory of the Most Holy Trinity, in honour of St.Patrick,their Patron, and in memory of those who died in the Service of Australia. Harold Brown,A.R.A.I.A. Architect Monsignor D.G.Tiernan',V.G. Parish Priest".
