History and Architecture:

In 1860 the Church of England was granted a piece of land for a church school. The church, called Christ Church housed a congregation until 1913. It became the Sunday school when the Church of the Epiphany was built at a cost of £649.

The Foundation stone of the present church was laid on 22 November 1913 by Dean Reverend Reginald Stephen and in 1914 the building was dedicated by the Archbishop of Melbourne.

The timber building was designed by Alexander North and constructed by the Burn Brothers of Geelong. The internal linings is of Tasmanian blue gum and the alter rails and chancel screen are made from Tasmanian Oak. A bell was given by parishioners of St Paul's Steiglitz when their church closed and first rang out over Meridith in 1962.

The impact of the exterior has been diminished by the obliteration of North's original scheme, in which the framing elements were picked out, emphasising the verticality of the tower.

The vicerage at the corner of Lawler street and Wallace street was demolished. The present Sunday school was moved from Lethbridge in the 1980's.
