History and Architecture:
A land grant was made during the gold rush era of 1862 and the church was built in 1868 by resident carpenter Charles Murdoch using donated bricks from Dal Adams owner of the local brickworks.
Anglican worship in the gold mining encampment of Mountain Creek began in early January 186 in a galvanised iron building with an earth floor. The tin shed had been carted from Lamplough diggings and stood near the existing site.
A wooden schoolroom belonging to John Wills was built and leased to the Education Department, but was burnt down in 1871.
