History and Architecture:

A timber church and school existed on this site in 1872; the land had been donated by the local farmer, Michael Kearney. The existing St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church was erected in 1888, with the foundation stone laid by Dr Reville, Co-adjudicator and Bishop of Sandhurst, on 19 April 1888. The builder was a Mr McKenzie. The current building on the site, St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, ceased to be an active place of worship by the late 1990s and the building was sold in September 1998.

A Foundation stone was laid in April 1888 Dr Reville Coadjutor Bishop of Sandhurst. The contractor was Mr McKenzie and the building was to be 40 foot x 24 foot while the chancel was to be 15ft x 11ft.

There was some debate to whether the church was called St. Patrick's or St. Joseph's, as some certificates called the church St. Joseph's. However, the records at Bendigo by Mgr. Murphy, found that when Moorilim and Arcadia were in the Nagambie Parish, Moorilim was St. Patrick's and Arcadia was St. Joseph's. Arcadia was then incorporated into the Mooroopna Parish and in 1955.

A plaque reads, "Centenary St Patricks Church April 29th 1888 - 1988. Blessed by Bishop N D Daly Bishop of Sandhurst".
