History and Architecture:
In 1954 a rectory was erected in the grounds and plans were afoot for a new church building. To provide room, the little church was moved - this time to Soldiers Hill, emerging there as St. Oswald's, where it remained for several years before being sold for removal. Bishop Sheville laid the foundation stone for the new St. James in May 1957 and the building was completed and dedicated by the Bishop on December 8th the same year.
A Foundation stone reads, " A.M.D.G This stone was set by Ian Sixth Bishop of North Queensland 18 May 1957".
