The first Church was erected in 1856.
A plaque on the Church wall reads, This plaque commemorates the 150th anniversary of the laying of the original foundation stone of St Andrew's Church Nimmitabel by Father Patrick Newman, Parish Priest of Cooma on 14th July 1863 - 14th 2013. Father Paul Huthnance Parish Priest Cooma.".
