History and Architecture:

Formerly a Wesleyan Chapel then a Methodist Church it was built in 1855. A hall was added in 1902. It's the second oldest remaining Methodist Chapel in SA. Pew rents in 1872 were three shillings a month.

The church was constructed on land originally set aside as a 'chapel reserve' and the first service in the church took place in 1855.

The grounds surrounding the church have only one grave recorded, that of John Hooper (died 1860) and his young daughter Mary Ann (died 1857). The water table was found to be too high for burials so burials usually took place in the cemetary at St Phillip and St James until a cemetery was built on Seaford Road in the 1950's.

Built of limestone with bluestone buttresses and brick dressings. It has a Concrete block porch at front, painted, is a recent addition (since 1971). The rear section, foundation stone laid o July 24th, 1902, by Mr. E. Teakle. This latter section was built with the same materials and was made to match the first part of the building, except for the buttresses: it has brick quoins instead.
