History and Architecture:

The Church was erected in 1897 to the design of the architect, J. Rigelsford. An intact example of the Federation Gothic style. The north-western facade fronting the street is a steeply pitched gable parapet flanked by two adjoining buttresses surmounted by finials. The roof is clad with corrugated iron. The entrance vestibule is a smaller component of materials, and features a segmental bay. The facade evoked the striking composition of rich, red ochre brick of Flemish bond, white stucco embellishment including quoinage, and gothic pointed archway entrance. Three leadlight windows and timber louvred circular vent are centred above the vestibule. with a plaster finial adorning the parapet apex.

A Foundation stone reads, " This stone was laid by Rev W.G. Taylor President of Conference Feb 3rd 1897. Rev W. Pearson Minister". A further foundation stone reads, " This stone was laid by Owen J. Howard Esq J.P. The Building was opened by Mrs H. Bowditch Nov 27th 1912". A final stone reads, " To the Glory of God this stone was set by Wesley W. Watson J.P. Senior Trustee on 6th August 1961. Rev F. Haynes Minister".
