History and Architecture:

The Church was designed by the church architect William K Mallyon and has been a significant part of community life for over 110 years. The foundation stone was laid by 8 year old Miss K. White whose family gave the land for the church. The contractor was Mr W H Gray. The church, which seats 150 persons, was opened on 11 August 1886 by Venerable Archdeacon George Dove. It was consecrated by Bishop G W Kennion on 1 November 1889.

The church had three memorial windows. These were installed in the sanctuary above the altar in 1927. The central window, 'I am the good shepherd', commemorates Mr Henry Marmaduke Peel who endowed the church and donated the church bell ; the left window, 'St Philip', was given by the Whittaker family in memory of their son Hubert who was killed in World War I; and , the right window, 'StJames' , was given by the congregation in memory of those who served in the Great War 1914-1918. The windows were dedicated in 1928 by Revd A S Webb.

The Church is now in private hands.
