History and Architecture:

The Church was erected between 1853 and 1856 from a design of local architect, Nathaniel Billing, on land given by James Atkinson. The contractors were Perry and Company. The early English Gothic style church, of Latin cross plan and cathedral proportions, was built of basalt with Merri freestone dressings and carvings by Walter McGill. The tower was completed in 1857.

Organ:

The organ was built by Frederick Taylor, of Hawthorn, at a cost of £340, and was opened in September 1909. The instrument remains largely unaltered and was renovated in 1986 by Leighton Turner.
