History and Architecture:
Formerly a Methodist church. Methodist started in the Queanbeyan district in the 1840's through the work of Thomas Southwell, a farmer. The pioneer efforts of this family are well recognised in the area. The Rev William Lightbody, a school teacher who established his methodist credentials in the Hunter Valley was appointed as the minister to travel the southern circuit. As a result he was the first Wesleyan Methodist itinerant preacher and minister in the Queanbeyan area.
