History and Architecture:
After five years of meeting in the dining room of Louis Wurm's house, Reverend Marshall convinced the congregation to build a church. Louis donated land and a parishioner was commissioned to build the 50 x 20 feet wood and iron structure. Twenty years later the positioning of the church on the property was in dispute and the structure was pulled down. The parishioners rallied, carting stone, sand, and water to quickly erect a stone structure. The iron and timber were re-used for the roof.
A wall plaque reads, " This plaque was unveiled by the Bishop of Willochra the Right Rev Bruce Roster on October 22nd 1978. To commemorate the centenary of the opening of the first church of England building in Stansbury on October 20th 1878. The Foundation stone of this present church was laid by Archdeacon George Dove on August 25th 1897. The Church was licensed and opened by the Bishop of Adelaide The Right Reverend Reginald Harmer on October 6th 1898".
