History and Architecture:

The first church was erected on this site in 1844 by Scottish Presbyterians. In 1859 the transepts were added to create more room. Edward Stirling donated a bell for the church which was cast in Sheffield England but it was too heavy so a Bell tower was erected in 1859. In 1895 Mrs E. J. Tucker decided the bell tower needed a clock so she organised a subscription list. The clock faces came from England. The Architects were English and Brown.

The last buildings were completed in 1938 and comprised of the Vestry and furnishings. The slate roof was replaced in 1954 with cement tiles.

In 1956 two spires were blown off during a storm. The remaining two spires were removed as a precaution. All were reinstated in 1994.

St Andrews Hall was opened in 1911.
