History and Architecture:

An Historical board reads,"St Wilfrid's Church 1886 This church was the only Anglican church to be constructed in the Tea 'Wee Gully area during the district's first 120 years. Built in 1886, the land was purchased from Adelaide land agent PD Prankherd. The church was built of local Tea Tree Gully sandstone by a local contractor Charles Tovey. The additions were built much later in 1969. The early church was designed by William K Mallyon, a bank manager from Port Fide and an amateur architect, who designed many of South Australia's early country churches built in the early English revival style. In 1887 a small freestanding stable was built to the southeast of the church for visiting clergy from St George's Magill. In 1969 a substantial adjoining brick building was added to the west of the stone church". The  Church walls were made of local stone. The Roof was corrugated iron, with trussed ceiling with wall posts in the transcepts.

A Foundation stone reads, " To the Greater Glory of God This stone was laid by The Hon ple The Speaker R.D. Ross M.P. in the presence of the Bishop on the 17th of April A.D. 1886".

A Foundation stone on the new church building reads, " A.M.D.G This garden was set apart for the internment of ashes upon the occasion of the consecration of the church of St Wilfrid by the Archbishop of Adelaide The Most Reverend Keith Rayner PH D 10th October 1976". A further Foundation stone reads, " To the Glory of God This stone was laid by His Excellency The Governor of South Australia Major General Sir James Harrison KCMG CB CBE on Sunday 26th October 1969".
