HOLY TRINITY, UPWEY. On Tuesday, ?4th May, the anniversary of the birthday of our late beloved Queen, the Bishop opened the second of these mountain churches in the Ferntree Gully district. The building was designed by Mr. Carleton, of Melbourne, and is a handsome and substantial building, erected on a block of land the gift of Miss Houston, of Canterbury. It is in the heart of a partially-cleared forest, a silent witness for God to a hardy band of settlers who are changing the tree-clad hills to orchards, dairy farms, &c., most of whom have lent willing help in connection with the new building, but all of whom speak in warm terms of the energy of the Misses Tullidge, and of the generosity of Mr. John Griffiths, whose country home is about two and a-half miles away. After the Bishop had formally dedicated the church, morning prayer was read by the Rev. F. W. R. Newton, assisted by the Archdeacon, the Rev. A. B. Rowed, and the Rev. A. Calder Wade. The church was crowded to the doors. *
The current Church was completed in March 1959 and was dedicated by the Archbishop of Melbourne Right Reverend Frank Woods.
