History and Architecture:

A Foundation stone reads, This memorial stone was laid by Mrs Marian Davies July 21 1906. A further Foundation stone reads, " This Foundation stone was laid by His Excellency Admiral Sir Harry Rawson GG3 Governor of NSW July 21 1906".

A further foundation stone reads "The God of heaven, He will prosper us therefore we his servants will rise and build Neh 2:20 This Foundation Stone of St Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral was laid down by his Holiness the Pontiff Pope Abba Shenouda III Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of The See of St Mark and the Coptic Church World Wide 16th of Baramouda 1696 St Mark's Day 8th May 1980".
