History and Architecture:
The Foundation stone of a new church was laid by Archbishop Mannix on 1 July 1934. The church was completed, and opened by Archbishop Mannix on 15 May 1938. It was constructed in the neo-Romanesque architectural style, a revival of the Romanesque style common in Europe between the years 900 and 1200.
