History and Architecture:
A wall plaque reads, " This Church dedicated to Maria Regina was blessed and opened by his Eminence James Cardinal Freeman Archbishop of Sydney on 25th August 1974".
A further plaque reads, "The garden and entrance of the Maria Regina Church Avalon were revitalised in 2004 into a welcoming and assembly area for the people. This revitalisation was made possible by a number of significant donations. Our Church community wishes to thank the following families: Dominguez, Field, Moore, Tosi and Toohey. The Toohey family wish to commemorate their parents Vincent and Irene.
The community also wishes to thank all those who gave their time, shrubs, material and donations to this welcoming garden. The sculpture by Daniel Dominguez depicts a welcoming Mary in our garden. Peter Ferris Chairman Parish Council April 2004".
