History and Architecture:
The Church was erected in the 1890's.
A plaque reads, " In recognition of the Centenary of Catholic History Parish of Brandon and Ayr formed by Dr Duhig Bishop of Rockhampton St Patrick's Day 1912. Parkside Parish formed 1955 - East Ayr Parish formed 1959 - Amalgamated as Sacred Heart Parish Ayr in 1977. This plaque was blessed by Michael Putney Bishop of Townsville Diocese , on St Patrick's Day 17 March 2012. No Greater Love (John 15 13).
In 1918 the Presbyterian Manse was bought and removed to make a Presbytery. It cost £700. Emery's house was also bought near the Church at a cost of £700 to be a residence for the Sisters in Ayr. It was sold in 1921 for £1,117.
