History and Architecture:
St Bernards Church was officially constituted as a separate parish in 1968. Bishop T. McCabe of Wollongong appointed Fr Ferdinand Fuhlendorf, first Parish Priest. The Church was re-located to new site in Orient Street, adjacent to St Joseph’s School.
Construction begins on the current Church in 1986. Archbishop Francis Carroll officially opens the new Church on 24th May 1987. The Architect was Kenneth Ritchie, of Lightfoot, Stanton, Hanlon and Ritchie, Architects located at Cremorne, NSW.
