History and Architecture:
The early Wesleyans soon took steps to establish a formal place of worship. The firsst church was a simple and unpretentious building of wood and iron had been built on land fronting Bendooley Street, Bowral, and been opened debt-free by that red-letter day, 18th September, 1864.
The second church, now used as a Sunday School, on the western side of Bendooley Street, Bowral, was opened on 29th October, 1881, was built at a cost of £665 during the ministry of Rev. T. R. McMichael, and seated 250 people.
A tender was accepted in May, 1925, for £3,426, for erection of the present fine Church, pictured on page 8; two foundation stones were laid on 29th August, 1925, and the building, erected during the ministry of Rev. A. M. Yates, was opened on 17th July, 1926, during the term of Rev. J. W. Dains.
A Foundation stone reads, " This stone was laid by Mrs E. Boardman 29th August 1925". A further Foundation stone reads, " This stone was laid by Mrs A. Morris Yates 29th August 1925".
