History and Architecture:

By 1870 the Primitive Methodist Church was established on the corner where the Soldiers’ Memorial Hall now stands. This building also served as the first school, with Mrs Dinah Osborne as teacher. A new school of two rooms was built in 1880 and is still used as the school library. The Primitive Methodists moved to a new building in 1885 (now the Uniting Church) and leased the original site to shop owners.

From the Bowral Free Press newspaper 18th April 1885 a part story reads, "ON Saturday last a new Primitive Methodist Church was opened at Bundanoon. At three o,clock in the afternoon the Rev. 0. James of Goulburn conducted the opening services and preached an appropriate ser-mon to a congregation numbering about two hundred. The Revs. B. Kenny and W. Sparling also took part in the service". The church is a neat weatherboard building, with a handsome porch and elegant Gothic windows. It is 45 feet long by 22 feet wide and is comfortably seated for about 250 persons.

A plaque on the stone gate post reads, " Memorial Gates Dedicated to the memory of past worshippers of this church erected 27-3-48".
