History and Architecture:
Initially ministers made monthly visits to Crookwell from Goulburn, these including J.A. Foggon, G. James, B. Kenny, C. Waters and J. Studds.
An extract from the source publication reads, "At the 1864 Conference, it was decided that a minister should be appointed to this district, the first to be appointed to the district being Rev. W.H. George, and he conducted services in a disused school room on Binda Road, Brooklands, then owned by Mr Gordon. Within twelve months, however, the first Methodist Church was built in Crookwell. The foundation stone was laid 29th August, 1865, and the official opening was conducted on 22nd April, 1866, by Rev. H.H. Gaud, Superintendent of the Goulburn Circuit.
Following the union of the two branches of the Methodist Church, the former Primitive Methodist building was used as a Sunday School, but, as the two Sunday Schools had been amalgamated, facilities in the old building were inadequate. Consequently, in order to provide more space and more modern facilities, a new hall was built at the rear of the present church.
A wall plaque reads, "A Tribute To All Who Worked And Worshipped Here, Wesleyan Church 1866 - 1902, Methodist Church 1902 - 1977, On the Occasion of entering. The Uniting Church in Australia 22nd June, 1977, 'We praise Him for all that is past' and trust Him for all that's to come".
