History and Architecture:

The foundation stone of the Methodist Church, Dunkeld was laid on 16 August 1913 by Mrs G. Taylor. The architects were Clegg, Miller & Cain, of Hamilton, and the builder E.B. Patterson. The building was opened on 17 January 1914 however it is now closed and in privae hands.

A historical marker reads, " The first church on this site was a timber building opened on 19th May 1872. This was used by the Wesleyan, then Methodist congregations. The present brick building was constructed by Mr E.H. Patterson and its foundation stone was laid on the 16th August 1913, by Mrs G. Taylor, (Senior). It then became the Uniting Church on the 22nd June 1977. Services continued until the final decommissioning service on Sunday 23rd June 2013, after which the church was sold into private ownership. The original wooden building, adjacent to the church, became the Sunday School and was used in the 1950s as an overflow classroom for the local State School. This was pulled down and replaced by the former Stoneyford Uniting Church building in 1981".
