History and Architecture:
The spiritual needs of the first Catholic settlers in the district were attended to by Father Rossalini who used to ride horse back between Gayndah, Mt. Perry, Gin Gin and Bundaberg, ministering to his people.
With the establishment of the Church in Bundaberg, pastoral care for Catholics in the Kolan Shire was entrusted to Bundaberg Clergy. On 29th October 1889 land was acquired in May Street. Gin Gin, from James McCarthy and on this site the present church. now under the patronage Jf St. Michael. was built by Father Minnagh of Bundaberg.
In 1939 the local church became part of the parish of Mt. Perry until 1955 when the parish centre was transferred to Gin Gin under the direction of Father P. Grennan, presently the Parish Priest of Childers. Later years saw the pastoral and administrative responsibility for the Church being undertaken by Priests from both Mt. Perry and Bundaberg, and later the local Church again became part of the Parish of Mt. Perry.
