History and Architecture:

Dean Murlay was appointed as the first Parish Priest of Gladstone and arrived on April 24, 1901 at the age of 69. He had to sell the Church soon after arriving to make way for the railway and with the proceeds he purchased land closer to the centre of town for £300. That was in July. He had a church/school constructed on the land and it was opened and blessed by Bishop Higgins on January 19, 1902.
