History and Architecture:
The Wesleyans acquired their own house of worship initially in Hailes Street. This weatherboard church was still being used as a worship centre in 1872, when it was decided to build a new church in Main Street. Construction was completed in 1873.
The church was situated on the northern side of Main Street adjacent to the Greensborough shopping complex and was built from locally made clay bricks, dug from the gully now occupied by Watemarc sports complex. It replaced a timber chapel that was opposite the cemetery in Hailes Street.
The church was demolished in 1967 in preparation for the future development of the Greensborough Plaza.
