History and Architecture:

In the early days Mass was celebrated at Mr M. O'Keefe's home, later in the Karyrie North State School (School in Coffey selection) Fr Costello driving horse and buggy up from Charlton. Mass was usually 11 a.m.

On Sunday 12th July 1887 a meeting of all those interested in building a Church at Karyrie was held at Mr Scanlon's  home. A committee was formed to raise funds for the building of a Roman Catholic Church. There were two sites chosen, one being the reserve near Mr Lawless' selection and the second being close to Mr Barry's selection, the distance being one and a half miles between the two places.

The successful tender was by Mr Tucker of Wycheproof on March 8th 1888 at a price of £79.14.6 .
