History and Architecture:
A report from the "Inglewood Advertiser" of January 28, 1870 reads, "The Memorial Stone of St. Mary's Church at Kingower was laid on Tuesday last (January 25) by Miss Mary Hall, the daughter of the Revd. William Hall, M.A., the Incumbent of the Kingower district, assisted by the members of the Ladies' Committee of the Church Building Fund. "Notwithstanding the unfavourable state of the weather (about four inches of rain fell in two days, which prevented Archdeacon A. Crawford of Castlemaine from getting through. The Church was opened on 17 May 1871.
A Foundation stone reads, "St Mary's Church Kingower erected 1871. This stone was unveiled by Melville First Bishop of St Arnaud on the sixtieth anniversary of it opening".
