The Freemans Journal of 14 February 1891 described the opening of a new Catholic Church in Milton, " The latest addition to the churches of the diocese of Sydney, as already notified in the FREEMAN was blessed and opened by his Lordship Dr. Higgins Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney. Tho building is generally acknowledged to be a credit and an ornament to the Milton district, and the collection of £200 on the opening day sufliciently indicates the pride which the Catholic residents feel to their new church. At the blessing, which was witnessed by a very large congregation, Bishop Higgins was assisted by Father John 0'Carroll (pastor), and Father Bridge, of Sydney.
