History and Architecture:
The first Church was erected in 1867 on a two acre block occupying half of the land bounded by Balo, Heber, Frome and Gwydir streets, the church being built approximately on the site of the present manse.
The current Church was erected by Hetherington & Pritchard and was opened in December 1938. The architect was Mr Hugh McCourt.
The 150th Anniversary was held on Sunday 15 October 2017 celebrating the building of the first church on the site, in 1867, which was also the first church of any denomination to be built in the town. The first church was a slab hut “raised from the ground” by James Greenaway in 1867. Rev Kirton Corner was the first minister, aged in his early 20s, and he visited Moree on horseback from Narrabri where he was stationed.
A Foundation stone reads, " To the Glory of God this stone was laid by Rev R.H. Campbell President N.S.W. Conference Rev R.G. Dempsey L. Th Supt Minister 27th August 1938". A Foundation stone on the Church Hall reads, " In Memory of those who served in the World Wars 1914 - 1918 and 1939 - 1945 - This stone was unveiled by C.B. Harding Esq and Mrs E.M. Greedy on 5th September 1959".
