History and Architecture:
At the meeting of the Provisional Committee of the Church of England of Mt. Evelyn, held at the "Ridge'', residence of Mr. A. Bruce Morrison on 23rd July, 1920, with the Rev. Tenniswood presiding, it was agreed to accept the block of land facing Birmingham Road generously donated by Mr. A. Stevens of Malvern Road, Prahran.
On Sunday, 30th March, 1924, it was decided that Mr. Begbie be asked for a contract price to dismantle and re-erect the building at Mt. Evelyn. Also a contract price to be obtained for carting of same by bullock wagon.
It was agreed that the amount of £26.0.0 per annum be guaranteed towards the salary of the Vicar of St. John's, Lilydale. At this meeting it was also agreed that application be made for the use of the Mechanics' Institute when it was opened, for the holding of Church of England services on Sunday afternoons. First Annual Meeting of Mt. Evelyn Church of England was held at the Mechanics' Institute, Mt. Evelyn on 2 I st February, 1921, at 8 p.m.
The Church was sold. In 2007 it was in private hands.
