History and Architecture:
The Church was built between 1863 and 1864. The first Wesleyan Chapel was built in 1853. A Foundation stone reads, " The Foundation stone of this Church was laid by .W. Hardwick 26th May 1863 - Rev T. Angwin Minister".
A plaque reads, "The Church was built in 1864 as the Methodist Church by Mudgee Silas Winter, to the designs of prominent Sydney architect, lan Mansfield. Since 1977 it has been the Uniting Church. The Methodist chapel, built in 1853, is contained within the shops on the south-western corner of Mortimer and Church Streets. The former parsonage, adjacent to the west, was erected in 1860 and extended circa 1930".
A further plaque reads, " The Renovations to this church were opened by the Rev Dr Brian Brown Moderator of the NSW/ACT Synod of the Uniting Church in Australia on the 26th May 2013 being the 150th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone. Reflect and Refresh".
