History and Architecture:

The first Church was built of wood in 1881.

A meeting to 'consider ways and means of erecting a new church' was held on Sunday, April 24th 1892. Fr O'Connor produced a plan of the proposed new building to be constructed to the north-west of the original church. There were £366 available from a bazaar held.

The foundation stone of the church was dedicated to the honour and glory of God under the patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary was laid during the Pontificate of Leo XII by the most Rev Dr Reville coadjutor Bishop of Sandhurst on the 10th day of July 1892. The resident pastors being Fr Michael O'Connor and Fr Bartholomew Murphy; Architect, Mr Alan McDonald; Builder, Mr Joseph Neeld.
