History and Architecture:

St Monica's Catholic Primary was established in 1892 by the Sisters of Mercy. It consisted of a small lean-to at the back of the Sacristy. The first Pastor was Fr James Joseph Mahoney. The present church was built in 1960 on the site of the Ancient Inn which had been pulled down.

A wall plaque reads, " This plaque commemorates the Centenary of St Monica's Parish North Parramatta 1894 - 1994 Bishop Most Rev Bede V. Heather DD Parish Priest Rev Gerard T. Ryan".

A further Foundation stone read's "A.M.D.G. St Monica's Memorial Church This Foundation stone was blessed and placed by His Eminence N.T. Cardinal Gilroy Archbishop of Sydney Sunday 29th November 1959 W. Wynne Pastor".
