History and Architecture:

Mr John McInnes an accredited Gaelic Missionary of the free church of Scotland upon emigrating to Victoria made his headquarters in Camperdown and that extended eventually to Penola. He conducted church services in the local Courthouse.

The first church was erected in 1856 on a site in Bowden Street almost opposite Ulva cottage, the home of the pioneer medical doctor.

The Foundation stone of the current church was laid on 16 March 1870 by Mr John Riddoch of Yallum. The Church was opened on 23 December 1870.
