History and Architecture:
The foundations of the parish were laid in pre-war days when the late Father O'Grady purchased land in Robb St, for future developments. On 2nd April 1939, His Grace, Archbishop Mannix blessed and opened the Church-School, with sanctuary, sacristy and three classrooms.
A Foundation stone reads, "This stone symbol of Christ Chief corner stone of the church was set and blessed by His Grace Archbishop Simonds 10th May 1964 Rev A Cleary Parish Priest. J.P. Saraty F.C Dixon".
The Church was opened on 20th December 1964 by Archbishop Simond. A plaque on the bell tower reads, " Erected July 1980 To the Glory of the Lamb that was slain Apoc 1V.12. The Bells are named Mary, Joseph and John the Evangelist after the figures in the Knock Apparition may they proclaim the good news the Angel announced to Mary (Luke 1 26 : 36).
