History and Architecture:

In 1856 Services in Gipsy Village (now Sandringham) first held in the common school in Francis Street and conducted by Mr. John Matthew Smith, Solicitor. In 1881 the first service in a new wooden church of All Souls was conducted by The Rev. E. C. Spicer on 2nd November All Souls Day.

A concrete Church was erected in 1919-1921 as a memorial to those who served in the Great War of 1914-1918, The Most Reverend Henry Lowther Clarke being Archbishop of Melbourne and The Reverend G. A. Calder Wade, Vicar attended. Believed to be the first reinforced concrete church in Australia it was built by the firm of C. Peeler at a total cost of about £10,000 and the foundation stone was laid by the Archbishop on the 7th September 1919. It was consecrated by Bishop Green on 10th December, 1921, and the first services were held in it on the next day.
