History and Architecture:

The fund for the erection of this Church began in 1916, under the guidance of Father O'Reilly who, on leaving the parish, had £76 to the credit of the Church Account. Father Bray increased this balance to £141, and Mrs. Deardon donated the land, which was fenced in by the parishioners.

The Church was built by Clem Duff, and was opened by His Lordship, Dr. McGuire, on August 22, 1935. Several of the prominent citizens of Hughenden accompanied Dr. Mc-Guire to Torrens Creek for the opening of St. Theresa's Church. Mr. Jim Davoren came to the rescue when the opening collection was being taken up.
