History and Architecture:
An article in the Yarrawonga Mercury and Mulwala News of 3 June 1886 reads, " The imposing ceremony of dedicating the newly erected church in this township was performed by the Right Rev. Dr. Seville, 0.S.A., on Sunday, 30th nit., in the presence of a vast congregation. His Lordship was assisted by the Very Rev. Prior Butler, and the Pastor, Rev. M. Kennedy. The Bishop vested in cope and mitre, formed procession at the porch door, and headed by a Cross bearer and his youths carrying lights made a circuit of the outside of the church, reading aloud the usual psalms and prayers. Rev. M. Kennedy was celebrant of the mass, which was excellently sung by the choir.
The church has a very fine and commanding site, being built on the slope of the hill overlooking the town. The style is strictly Gothic, and is from a plan supplied by Mr. J. M. Brady architect. It is 50ft. in length, by 22ft. 6in. in width, and walls 18ft. high.
