This Federation Gothic style church was not constructed until after almost 50 years of Catholic involvement in the district. An earlier church had been built in 1875 and a parish school in 1881. Bishop Higgins laid the granite foundation stone before a crowd of over 2,000 people in April 1906. The building was completed in 1907.
